Gobee Bike operates a dock-less bike-sharing service that uses a smartphone app to scan QR codes and unlock GPS‑equipped bicycles. The company launched in Hong Kong after being founded in February and describes the city as its proof-of-concept market. In roughly six months it has accrued over 100,000 app downloads and operates “thousands” of bikes. Gobee says it already has people on the ground in several global cities and plans expansion into North America, Europe and other parts of Asia. Founders Raphael Cohen (CEO) and Claude Ducharme (CTO) previously built other internet businesses and positioned Gobee to compete with larger Chinese rivals abroad. Management indicated the company is likely to raise more funding to support its globalization push.
