Overview

GoStudent operates a late-stage tutor marketplace that combines online and offline educational support and has launched a GoVR virtual reality language-learning product. The company reports around 23,000 tutors on its platform. GoStudent says it has an "AI vision" and plans to prioritise creation of AI-driven tools, including an AI lesson plan generator trained on the local curriculum intended to save tutors about 15 minutes per lesson. It has been using its war chest to pursue roll-up acquisitions, notably buying Germany-based Studienkreis last year. The company has raised $686.3 million to date and is described as an edtech unicorn with an estimated €3 billion valuation. The newly raised $95 million will be used to expand enhanced hybrid learning solutions in the DACH region and to scale its VR and AI-enhanced tutoring offerings. GoStudent operates a K12 online tutoring marketplace focused on one-to-one tutoring, allowing students and parents to pick vetted tutors for general help or exam preparation. Tutors are tested, vetted and interviewed before joining the platform. The company has expanded internationally, operating in 16 countries as of 2021, opening 19 international offices and launching in Mexico this year. It plans to enter at least six more markets including the U.S., Asia‑Pacific and the MENA region, and aims to grow and diversify services through M&A (it acquired Fox Education in September 2021). The new funding will be used for international expansion, product expansion through M&A and to increase market share in existing geographies. Since founding in Vienna in 2016, GoStudent has raised $669 million and is notionally valued at $3.5 billion (€3 billion). GoStudent operates a marketplace that lets K-12 students and parents find and book one-to-one video tutors across roughly 30 school subjects, with classes, assessments and payments handled on the platform. Tutors are tested, vetted and interviewed before joining; parents and students interview tutors and run a practice lesson prior to engagement. The company is live in 18 countries and is seeing strong traction with about 400,000 sessions booked monthly (up 700% year‑on‑year and 15% month‑on‑month). GoStudent says it is on track to double headcount to 1,000 and reach 10,000 tutors by the end of the year and plans further geographic expansion (Mexico and Canada named as next targets). Found in 2016, the business shifted to focus more squarely on one‑to‑one tutoring about 2.5 years ago and aims to continue scaling its tutor and subject listings. Investors cite steep revenue growth (DN Capital notes 800% revenue growth since 2020) and rapid value appreciation for the company. GoStudent operates a virtual learning platform that connects students with tutors for one-to-one online tutoring, positioning itself as a lower-cost alternative to offline learning centers and classified-ad style tutor marketplaces. The company competes with European offline players such as Schülerhilfe and Acadomia and is compared to Chinese online tutoring platforms like Zhangmen, VIPKid and TAL Education. It reports more than 250,000 tutoring sessions booked every month. GoStudent plans to use the new funding to drive growth and expand into international markets such as Turkey and Greece, and intends to reach 15 countries across Europe. The company aims to grow its team to 800+ employees and expand its tutor base to 10,000+ tutors. CEO Felix Ohswald said the Series B makes GoStudent the best-funded consumer K12 education start-up in Europe. GoStudent operates an online tutor marketplace that matches students with teachers for individual and group sessions and offers six-, 12- and 24-month tutoring subscription packages. The platform provides software tools to both students and teachers to remove administrative tasks and enable focus on teaching and learning. Tutors are matched to students using AI, and students can discuss questions with others in a moderated environment. GoStudent says it has expanded from the DACH region into France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain and plans to extend its footprint across Europe. The company reports 100,000+ monthly sessions and 2,000+ active tutors on the platform. It positions itself as a lower-cost, quality-assured alternative to traditional local institutions and freelance marketplaces.
