Gotham Therapeutics develops a novel drug class aimed at proteins that modify messenger RNA, leveraging the emerging field of epitranscriptomics. The company built a platform to assess the impact of RNA-modifying proteins on disease biology and has developed small molecules against priority targets. Its approach applies a 360-degree small molecule drug design to build a pipeline intended to address cancers, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases. With seed funding from Versant, Gotham advanced its platform and programs and has now launched with a $54 million Series A to fund clinical proof of concept and expand its preclinical pipeline. The founding team is led by CEO Lee Babiss and includes scientific leadership from co-founder Samie Jaffrey. Gotham is part of New York’s growing biopharma community and maintains a subsidiary near Munich, Germany.
