Overview
Graide offers assistive AI and machine-learning tools to help teachers mark essays, reports and STEM papers and to provide explainable feedback to students. The product was initially designed for maths, physics and chemistry marking and has since expanded to cover essays and reports in all subjects; the company is also developing tools to detect students using AI to write essays. The platform is used by universities including Birmingham, Durham, Huddersfield and Sussex, as well as by learning platforms and exam boards, and has completed pilot projects in the US. Graide currently employs eight staff and was founded by Robert Stanyon, Manjinder Kainth and George Bartlett. The company is described in reports as Birmingham/ Wolverhampton, UK–based and plans to use new funding to expand in the UK and target new markets in the US and Canada. To date the business has raised a total of £2.5M.
