- Risk Ledger
Participated · Series B · Jul 2026
Founded in 2018 by Haydn Brooks and Daniel Saul, Risk Ledger provides a network-first platform for active supply chain security. Its solution uses a standardised assessment that each supplier completes once and then shares across the network, replacing repetitive questionnaires with a single, continuously updated profile. The platform hosts more than 16,000 organisations across sectors including financial services, insurance, critical national infrastructure and central and regional government. With the new funding, the company plans to further develop supply chain security tools and grow its customer network in the UK. Risk Ledger also intends to use the capital to support expansion into the US market.
- Rad Propulsion
Led · Series A · Jul 2026
Rad Propulsion develops autonomous and electric marine systems for defense and commercial operators, including electric propulsion systems and energy management technologies. The company launched Axon, an open systems architecture designed to simplify integration for autonomy providers and allow vessel systems to evolve independently. Over the past year RAD has delivered major customer programs and expanded its product portfolio, demonstrating commercial momentum. RAD plans to commercialize Axon, expand its electric propulsion offerings and continue development of next-generation systems. The company is also expanding internationally—having appointed its first U.S.-based employee—and will scale its applications engineering and delivery capability to meet rising demand. RAD recently closed a £4.4 million funding round led by Mercia Ventures to fund these growth priorities.
- TaiSan
Led · Seed · Jul 2026
TaiSan operates out of a Cambridge battery lab and develops next-generation sodium batteries it says are more efficient than existing sodium-ion and lithium-ion rivals. The company targets applications including electric bikes, scooters, vehicles and power tools. Founded and led by Sanzhar Taizhan, a former Kazakhstani chess champion, TaiSan has kept several breakthroughs in stealth while progressing its electrochemistry. Financially, the startup has raised €1.7M in pre-seed funding and has just closed a £4.65M seed round that includes a £700,000 Innovate UK grant. TaiSan plans to use the new capital to enhance battery performance and begin pilot testing with manufacturers. The company intends to bring its sodium-battery benefits to a mainstream audience.
- Astral Systems
Led · Series A · Jun 2026
Founded in 2021, Astral Systems designs and operates compact multi-state fusion (MSF) reactors to generate high-intensity neutron beams for manufacturing medical isotopes. The company currently operates reactors at TRL9, runs three commercial fusion facilities, and has signed research contracts that have generated more than £3M in revenue. Astral has partnered with McMaster University and Brazil’s Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research to produce isotopes including Actinium-225 and Lead-212, and plans to bring at least one isotope to market by early 2027. With the Series A financing, Astral intends to build out next-generation reactors at the former Berkeley Power Station, expand its headcount from 23 to more than 40 by end-2026, and target profitability in 2027. The firm positions its modular MSF design as able to produce a broader range of isotopes than single-purpose competitors.
