- TaiSan
Led · Seed · Jul 2026
TaiSan operates out of a Cambridge battery lab and develops next-generation sodium batteries it says are more efficient than existing sodium-ion and lithium-ion rivals. The company targets applications including electric bikes, scooters, vehicles and power tools. Founded and led by Sanzhar Taizhan, a former Kazakhstani chess champion, TaiSan has kept several breakthroughs in stealth while progressing its electrochemistry. Financially, the startup has raised €1.7M in pre-seed funding and has just closed a £4.65M seed round that includes a £700,000 Innovate UK grant. TaiSan plans to use the new capital to enhance battery performance and begin pilot testing with manufacturers. The company intends to bring its sodium-battery benefits to a mainstream audience.
- Scarlet Therapeutics
Led · Seed · May 2026
Scarlet Therapeutics develops red blood cell therapies produced from immortalized cell lines to create scalable, off-the-shelf biologic products. Its lab-grown RBCs have, in preclinical studies, matured and circulated in vivo with a half-life comparable to donated red blood cells. The company modifies RBCs to convert toxic metabolites and is targeting indications including hyperammonemia and hyperoxaluria. Because it uses immortalized master cell banks, Scarlet aims to avoid donor-sourced scalability and reproducibility issues and to manufacture at large scale. Scarlet plans quarterly dosing of its RBC products and is advancing process development and regulatory interactions to support a clinical path. The recent £3.2 million seed raise will fund animal studies in three indications and help position the company for a follow-on financing once a lead program is selected.
- Bioliberty
Participated · Series A · Mar 2026
Bioliberty develops Lifehub, an AI- and robotics-enabled platform that monitors functional recovery and enhances physical and occupational therapy delivery in post-acute settings. The company launched Lifehub Clinic in 2025 and is commercializing Lifehub in the U.S. while preparing Lifehub Home to extend therapy and monitoring into patients’ homes. Bioliberty reports growing adoption among major U.S. rehabilitation providers, including partnerships with one of the largest rehabilitation networks and Sheltering Arms Institute, and collaborates with research organizations such as Mount Sinai and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. It holds multiple patents across its core technologies and states that Lifehub and Lifeglov are FDA-registered. Founded in 2023, the company has raised $17.5 million to date and is using recent proceeds to expand computer vision, care coordination features, and U.S. commercialization efforts.
- Neupulse
Led · Equity · Feb 2026
Neupulse is a University of Nottingham spin-out focused on bringing to market a non-invasive wristband that eases motor and vocal tics associated with Tourette’s syndrome. The device delivers targeted stimulation intended to provide a drug-free alternative to medication and behavioural therapy, addressing a significant unmet clinical need that affects up to 2 % of children worldwide. Recent funding allows the company to progress product development, build its regulatory dossier and expand clinical evidence in preparation for launch. Management plans a mid-2026 commercial debut in the UK before scaling internationally. The £3 m raised follows a £500 k investment from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II in 2024, giving the team additional runway for trials and early commercialisation activities. Investors highlight the technology’s global impact potential and the strong research pedigree underpinning the product.
- Nami Surgical
Led · Equity · Jan 2026
Founded in 2021 as a University of Glasgow spin-out, Nami Surgical is engineering high-performance, miniaturised ultrasonic scalpels that can be embedded into articulated, wristed robotic surgical instruments. The platform aims to fill a technology gap for major medical robotic companies, giving surgeons ultrasonic cutting and coagulation capability inside compact robotic tools. With the global robotic-assisted surgery market expected to exceed $25 billion by 2030, Nami is positioning its technology for broad commercial adoption. The company is now transitioning from advanced development to commercialisation and has strengthened its leadership by appointing veteran MedTech executive Nikki Palfrey as CEO while co-founder Nico Fenu becomes COO. Recent board additions, including Eos Advisory’s Investor Director David O’Reilly, bolster governance and strategic expertise. To date the firm has attracted backing from deep-tech investor Eos Advisory, Maven Capital Partners, and Scottish Enterprise, underscoring continued investor confidence as the product nears market entry.
