- Advanced Electric Machines
Led · Equity · Aug 2026
Advanced Electric Machines develops and manufactures rare earth- and magnet-free electric motors, with technology applicable across passenger cars, motorcycles, ATVs, trucks, buses, construction machinery and marine sectors. Its platform eliminates permanent magnets and rare earth materials and replaces copper windings with aluminium, aiming to reduce supply-chain risk while delivering competitive performance, efficiency and reduced weight. AEM's technology portfolio includes advanced control strategies, aluminium coils, and higher-speed, smaller, lighter designs that have been productionised. The company manufactures at a commercial-scale facility in Washington and is leveraging that capability to develop higher-torque products for demanding powertrain and industrial applications. The recent funding will support expansion of production capacity and accelerate next-generation product development. The platform was developed at Newcastle University and is supported by existing regional investors who have backed AEM through its evolution.

- Moralbox
Led · Seed · Nov 2025
Moralbox provides a cloud workforce intelligence platform that gives employers a unified, live view of staff credentials, training workflows and compliance risks. Designed for regulated, labour-intensive sectors such as food production, construction, transport and care, the system replaces spreadsheets with automated, real-time verification of certifications. Current customers include Thompsons of Prudhoe and Cranswick Yorkshire Baker, and the company says it now supports clients in five countries across four continents with consistently high satisfaction scores. The product roadmap extends to a broader Workforce Manager tool that will integrate bookings, talent spotting and digital learning records into a single employee log. Newly added AI functionality is being built to forecast future training needs and recommend personalised learning pathways. The recent pre-seed funding aims to fast-track product development, expand commercial reach and scale the team, positioning Moralbox to capitalise on tightening regulatory requirements and persistent skills shortages.
