DSW Ventures made its first investment in 2018 and is an investor in early-stage scale-up businesses requiring venture funding of more than £250,000, primarily on an EIS basis. It is funded by a growing network of high-net-worth angel investors. DSW Ventures is the trading style of DSW Angels LLP, which is part of the Dow Schofield Watts Group. DSW Ventures is a partner in British Business Investments’ £100m Regional Angels Programme, designed to help reduce regional imbalances in access to early stage equity finance for smaller businesses across the UK.

  • Voxshell

    Voxshell was spun out of Cranfield University in April 2024 to commercialise ChopMesh, a proprietary meshing algorithm that ingests implicit geometry natively and produces high-fidelity meshes for engineering simulation. The platform combines a native geometry-first algorithm with AI-accelerated processing to automate workflows that currently require manual intervention. Voxshell already has paying customers and pilots underway with multiple tier-one aerospace OEMs. The company is developing a higher-performance version of ChopMesh capable of batch processing large-scale mesh files, planned for release later this year. Following its £800,000 seed round, Voxshell intends to scale its engineering team and add automated workflow orchestration while expanding go-to-market partnerships. Clive Scrivener has joined the company as Non-Executive Chair as it commercialises its technology.

  • Northern Light Microscopy

    Northern Light Microscopy develops the AMIS (Advanced Modular Imaging System), a compact benchtop microscope that combines a proprietary micro-optical light engine with structured illumination to deliver up to eight advanced imaging modes. The AMIS is designed to offer high-throughput and super-resolution imaging across a range of magnifications and illumination wavelengths while integrating into existing lab workflows without protocol changes. The company says the AMIS has outperformed established, significantly more expensive systems in direct comparison studies. Northern Light is also developing LINK imaging software and plans additional hardware modules to expand its product line. The business was founded by Dr Peter Tinning (CEO) and Dr Ralf Bauer (CTO), is supported by Non-Executive Chair Colin Roberts, and is commercialising its technology from Glasgow with regulatory targets and first sales planned ahead of international expansion from 2027.

    ROXFIT builds a digital platform that helps hybrid-fitness competitors train, simulate races, and analyse performance through AI-driven workout plans, pacing guidance, race simulations, and wearable integrations. Founded by entrepreneurs Ben Wilson and Joey Allott, the company focuses on the rapidly expanding HYROX community, positioning itself as the primary technology layer for this emerging sport. The app grew from 80,000 users in May 2025 to more than 260,000 users across 185 countries, demonstrating strong organic traction. Following the launch of Version 2, ROXFIT deepened its analytics features and integrations to serve both elite athletes and newcomers. With fresh capital, the startup intends to accelerate product development, grow its engineering and artificial-intelligence teams, and broaden its global ambassador network as well as partnerships with gyms and training communities. Prior funding includes an £800,000 pre-seed round that supported initial product creation and early international expansion. The latest raise brings the company’s total external funding to £2.7 million.

    InvenireX is commercialising a disease-detection system built around programmable DNA nanostructures (“Nanites”) embedded in custom microfluidic chips. These Nanites capture specific genetic markers and, via a proprietary AI-powered reader, identify and quantify them in real time. Pilot data show 200-fold greater sensitivity than qPCR and a 60-fold improvement over digital PCR while halving both the time and cost per test, delivering results in minutes. The technology could spot tumours as small as one millimetre up to a decade earlier, verify vaccine ingredients at production scale, and reveal previously undetectable biological markers. Founded in 2023 through Conception X and spun out of Newcastle University research by CEO Dr Dan Todd, the company has completed a pilot with a diagnostics firm that has committed to buy the first instrument and is running additional pilots in vaccine manufacturing and infectious-disease diagnostics. Its recent £2 million seed round, which includes Innovate UK grant support, will be used to expand the team and scale these pilot programmes toward commercial launch.

  • StimOxyGen

    StimOxyGen is a spin-out from Ulster University developing cancer treatments that deliver oxygen directly to tumours to enhance the effectiveness of radiotherapy and immunotherapy. Its lead candidate is intended as an adjunct therapy to radiotherapy and has shown significant tumour reduction in preclinical studies across multiple cancer types. The company will initially focus on pancreatic cancer, which has limited treatment options and a poor five-year survival rate. StimOxyGen is led by CEO Sian Farrell, CSO Professor Anthony McHale and Non-Executive Director Dr Les Russell. The company raised £1.5M and plans to use the funds to advance key preclinical studies, scale up manufacturing and expand its team as it moves toward clinical translation.
