Tutkijantie 9, Oulu, 90590, Finland
Overview
GrainSense is an Oulu, Finland-based spinoff of the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland that develops a battery-powered handheld device and cloud-based service for on-site grain analysis. The hand-held device measures protein, moisture, oil and carbohydrate content of cereals and other crops in seconds using only a few grains and no preparation. The product includes GPS positioning and cloud connectivity to allow users to log measurements and control crop quality, cost and pricing. GrainSense says the device will enable farmers, seed producers, plant breeders and meat producers to measure key parameters and adjust feed protein in real time. The company plans to launch its offering in 2016 and begin marketing, sales and product development cooperation with Berner Ltd in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The leadership team includes CEO Edvard Krogius and founders/inventors Ralf Marbach, Jouni Huopana, Ykä Marjanen, Max Schulman and Arve Lukander.
