Growl
11044 Research Boulevard, Austin, Texas, 78759, United States
Overview
Growl makes a wall-mounted hardware system that turns a traditional punching bag into an at-home, coach-led boxing and fitness device. The product consists of a wall-mounted frame with a 4K projector, speakers, cameras, infrared and time-of-flight sensors, and a foam boxing bag with multiple accelerometers to detect impact zone and punch intensity. The projector displays a human-sized coach and metrics on the wall and supports gamified experiences; the company is building a content library with coaches and will include non-boxing classes such as yoga, Pilates and strength training. Growl plans to price the device around $4,500 with financing options and a subscription for content, aiming to keep total cost comparable to a premium gym membership. The company will begin accepting pre-orders in April 2025 and expects to deliver first units about a year after pre-orders start. Growl is led by co-founder and CEO Léo Desrumaux, is based in Austin, Texas and Paris, France, and counts Sam Bowen (former VP of hardware engineering at Amazon, Peloton and Tonal) as an advisor.
