Overview

GudangAda operates a mobile-first B2B marketplace and app that includes a point-of-sale system and tools to manage orders, track logistics and make payments, while handling deliveries for merchants. The platform connects principal manufacturers, distributors and small retailers, offers market research and product data, and provides transportation and warehouse management systems for logistics partners. Before this round the company had reached $6 billion in net merchandise value on $35 million of prior funding and is used by roughly half a million SMEs across 500 Indonesian cities. GudangAda aggregates suppliers so small stores can buy competitively without the volume required for direct distributor orders, and it focuses on optimizing inventory turnover to increase working capital for merchants. The company plans to expand its product categories (including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, packaging, homeware and stationery), develop AI-based personalized recommendation tools, and partner with banks in the future to enable working-capital lending using platform data. Founded in January 2019, GudangAda was built by a team with deep FMCG and retail experience in Indonesia. GudangAda operates an ecommerce B2B marketplace that links FMCG wholesalers directly to merchants, from large retail chains to independent mom-and-pop stores and warungs. The platform claims merchants in 500 cities and coverage of 100% of Indonesia’s FMCG wholesalers, including over 50,00 large retailers. It facilitates order management, analytics, faster inventory turns and broader product selection for buyers and sellers. The company reports its platform facilitates $100 million of monthly transactions in food, beverage and agricultural products. Launched about 15 months ago, GudangAda is piloting a logistics service in Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Lampung, Medan and Semarang with plans to expand to other major cities. It plans to use the new funding to enhance its technology, launch new services, hire talent and provide critical support to Indonesia’s FMCG supply chain amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
