Heila Technologies develops the Heila EDGE® platform, a modular edge‑computing, control, optimization and machine‑learning system for operating distributed energy resources based on grid, economic, or sustainability constraints. The platform emphasizes automation, modularity and scalability to reduce system complexity and cost for microgrids and distributed energy projects. Heila was founded in 2015 and is based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts. The company announced a completed $3.0 million seed round that will support expansion of its distributed grid intelligence and partnerships for deployment. Tokyo Gas’s Acario Innovation made an equity investment that completed the round after earlier investments from Table Rock Infrastructure Partners, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and private investors. Heila plans joint development and deployment of microgrid projects with Tokyo Gas/Acario to accelerate international deployments, including in Japan.
