Launched in 2020 and headquartered in Calgary, Helcim builds an end-to-end payments and software platform that includes point-of-sale, invoicing, online checkout, a smart terminal, and embedded payments tools for small and mid-sized businesses. The company reports more than 22,000 active merchants across North America, crossed CA$150 million in ARR, employs about 200 people, and is on track to process nearly CA$10 billion in annual payment volume. Helcim built its infrastructure in-house rather than reselling another processor, enabling volume-based interchange-plus pricing. In January 2026 it released an AI-powered Payment Extension to let merchants self-integrate Helcim's payments into existing software, and adoption has scaled quickly.
