Hepstar provides digital distribution solutions for travel insurance, enabling travel suppliers to increase ancillary revenue through commissioned insurance sales and allowing insurers to reach customers via e-commerce. The company was founded in 2013 and is led by CEO Stephan Ekbergh, COO Claudia Snyman, CTO Stephen Booysen and CFO Brett Dyason. Over the last year Hepstar has expanded its presence to Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Australia. Clients include CarTrawler, South African Airways, ClickBus (including Neredennereye.com), IATI, Flightsite and Travelstart. Strategic partnerships have been signed with global distribution systems and insurers such as Mapfre, Regent, Al Sagr and Orient Sigorta. In February 2016 Hepstar raised US$2M from UK-based technology investor Amadeus Capital Partners. The company intends to use the funds to focus on sales and local talent acquisition, expand global reach, accelerate technology development and grow the brand.
