Overview
HeyCharge is a Munich-based electric vehicle charging technology company focused on improving home and workplace charging for residents of multi-unit buildings. Its core SecureCharge platform uses one-time cryptographic tokens generated on a user’s smartphone, allowing chargers to operate without continuous internet connectivity. By eliminating the need for additional communications infrastructure, the system can cut installation costs by more than 40 percent and function dependably in underground or semi-underground garages where mobile coverage is poor. The company is now developing SecureCharge FLEX to further scale this offline technology across Europe. Approximately 200 million Europeans live in apartment buildings, representing a significant addressable market for the solution. Financially, HeyCharge has secured €6.3 million in private capital from BMW i Ventures, Statkraft Ventures and Y Combinator prior to the current non-dilutive award. The new grant strengthens its balance sheet and accelerates certification and large-scale pilots in several European countries.
