Highview Power

Hobhouse Court, Suffolk Street, London, SW1Y 4HH, United Kingdom

Overview

Highview Power is an energy-infrastructure company that has spent 17 years developing proprietary Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) technology capable of storing renewable electricity for several weeks and providing critical grid-stability services. Its hybrid long-duration energy storage (LDES) plants pair LAES with lithium-ion batteries to deliver flexible, multi-hour power output while supplying inertia, short-circuit and voltage support. The company’s flagship Millennium Series will comprise 3.2 GWh facilities, beginning with a site at Hunterston, Scotland, that can power roughly 650,000 homes for up to 12.5 hours. A 300 MWh LAES plant is already under construction in Carrington, Manchester, and the Hunterston project’s first “stability island” phase is expected on-line by August 2026 with full storage operations targeted for 2027–2030. Highview also operates a grid-analytics platform that forecasts energy needs and optimizes plant dispatch. To date the firm has raised more than £500 million to commercialize and scale its technology, while creating a UK supply chain expected to support 1,000 construction jobs and 650 supply-chain jobs during build-out.
