Hona is a Lehi, Utah–based communication portal that plugs into law firms’ case management software to send automated updates and let clients track their case like an Amazon package. The product uses AI to generate case updates, educational resources and answers to client questions, but Hona limits the model’s scope and lets lawyers decide what the AI can access to reduce misinformation. The company focused initially on consumer-facing practices such as personal injury and criminal defense and plans to expand into B2B law practices in the future. Hona has launched an e-signature tool and plans to add billing and payment features. Financially, Hona grew revenue 400% in 2023, works with more than 500 law firms and has been used by 308,000 clients, though it did not disclose exact revenue figures. The founders validated demand pre-launch, signing five firms from cold outreach before writing code, and the product has continued to see strong demand since its February 2022 launch.
