Hunted Labs builds tooling to find suspicious open-source contributors and commercialize background-checking work the founders did for Department of Defense projects. Its core product focuses on revealing contributor affiliations and potential foreign influence in widely used OSS. The startup also provides traditional OSS threat management, including inventorying software in use and spotting vulnerabilities in code. Founders are Hayden Smith, Tim Barone, and Amanda Aguayoco; Smith and Barone have prior DoD cybersecurity and DevOps experience tied to Platform One. Hunted Labs refined its product inside Red Cell Partners’ paid three-month “discovery” incubator and has already landed customers. It has a $1.79M contract with the Space Development Agency and closed a $3M seed to support commercialization and growth.
