Hypersonic Laboratories is developing Helix, a multiplayer role-playing sandbox platform that enables user-generated content and professional modding tools. Helix is being built on Unreal Engine 5 to support high-fidelity, AAA-quality graphics and expansive urban designs. The platform aims to let modders create their own games inside a shared virtual environment and to attract both independent creators and established studios. The company raised $7 million in the latest funding round to accelerate team growth and platform development. The round brings total funding to $11 million and will fund a closed alpha launch of Helix planned for later in 2024. Reported investors in the round include Play Ventures, AppWorks, WTIC, KB Investment, and Alex Ekvall. Hypersonic is also pursuing partnerships to drive engagement, including a collaboration with GamesBeat and Lil Snack to produce custom games for that audience.
