iDevices LLC is an Avon, Conn.-based provider of in-app enablement solutions, developing devices that connect wirelessly to smartphones, tablets and computers using Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi technology. Led by CEO Chris Allen, the company offers a custom module and software stack for the Broadcom Bluetooth Smart chip. Its consumer products include the iGrill and Kitchen Thermometer, which pair with the free iDevices Connected app to monitor cooking temperatures. The company plans to use the new funds to scale the business, increase inventory, introduce new products and explore new sales channels. The round builds on a prior $150k investment from Connecticut Innovations in 2011. iDevices develops Bluetooth-connected devices and app-enabled accessories for smartphones, tablets and PCs. Its first product, the iGrill, is a grilling and cooking thermometer paired with an app for Apple products (iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad). The iGrill is sold nationwide through retailers including Radio Shack, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Apple stores, and Amazon.com. The company is expanding distribution channels in other continents. iDevices plans to use new capital to develop additional app-enabled products, expand its consulting business and hire additional employees to strengthen the team in Canton.
