Inbiome

Science Park 106, Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, 1098 XG, The Netherlands

Overview

Inbiome developed a PCR-based Molecular Culture ID platform that identifies bacterial infections and resistance-associated genes, delivering results in roughly five hours and reporting a roughly 50% higher hit rate than traditional culture methods. The platform is IVDR certified and already deployed in hospitals across Europe, and the company has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation while working toward full U.S. approval. Inbiome builds on existing hospital testing infrastructure to provide more detailed pathogen readouts without requiring new complex sequencing workflows. The company was founded in 2019 by brothers Dries and Jord Budding. Plans funded by the Series A include accelerating regulatory approval, growing the team, developing add-on applications to detect specific resistance genes, and building portable testing setups (including a containerized system that could handle up to 500 tests per day). Inbiome has positioned its technology as useful in both civilian healthcare and frontline military medicine where antimicrobial resistance is acute.
