Infinited Fiber Company
Tekniikantie 14, Espoo, Uusimaa, 02150, Finland
Overview
Infinited Fiber Company produces Infinna, a recycled cellulosic fiber made from the cellulose portion of post-consumer textile waste and ready-to-spin in fiber form. Its process accepts blends with a minimum of 88% cellulose and can separate polyester and elastane, though it is currently optimized for Infinna production. IFC sources feedstock from Europe-based garment collectors and mechanical-recycling dust from Turkey and North Africa, and claims pre-agreed volumes, prices and compositions with partners to secure supply. The company operates two pilot facilities in Finland and plans a commercial-scale factory to be built in a decommissioned pulp and paper plant in Finland. IFC closed a two-part financing round totalling €40m, with funds earmarked to cover operational costs for the preparation phase of the commercial factory build. Management expects to spend the next 18–24 months developing and fulfilling the first supply agreements and will begin raising an additional €400m to fund the full factory build. IFC targets an annual production capacity of 500,000 tonnes of Infinna by 2030. Infinited Fiber Company converts cellulose-rich materials (like cotton-rich textile waste, used cardboard, and wheat straw) into Infinna™, a premium regenerated textile fiber with the natural look and feel of cotton. Infinna™ is biodegradable, contains no microplastics, and garments made with it can be recycled in the same process together with other textile waste. The company intends to use recent investment proceeds to prepare for building a flagship factory in Finland and to boost pilot-plant output to meet growing demand from global fashion and textile brands. Zalando invested as part of a funding round recently led by H&M Group that also included adidas and BESTSELLER's investment arm Invest FWD A/S. Zalando and Infinited Fiber Company signed a letter of intent for Zalando to provide raw materials and to use Infinna™ in its private-label production. The company is headquartered in Espoo, Finland and positions its technology as a solution to rising textile waste and increasing fiber demand.
