Infrared City has developed an AI-based simulation platform that provides instant, continuous environmental feedback for design decisions, enabling climate-aware and resilient architecture and urban planning. The platform calculates the effects of users' design choices in seconds and gives real-time metrics such as wind speed and comfort, solar radiation, and sunlight availability. The technology aims to remove specialization barriers in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry by making environmental simulation accessible to designers, planners, developers, and policymakers. Infrared City was spun out of the Austrian Institute of Technology. The company positions its tool as a way to support a rethinking of design and planning toward resilient cities amid climate change. The recently raised funds will be used to accelerate the technology and expand the engineering team.
