Inkfruit operates an online apparel marketplace where customers submit original artwork and the company produces and sells crowd-sourced T-shirt designs (and a few other clothing items). The business showcases products in retail outlets such as Planet M, Lifestyle stores and upscale malls in addition to online sales. Founders Kashyap Dalal and Navneet Rai, both IIT graduates, launched the company (then called Gnome) in early December 2007 and are in their 20s. Management plans to expand the product offering from T-shirts to laptop bags and a set of accessories. While exact revenues are not disclosed, an early backer said the company was recording north of Rs 3 crore annually. Early equity from angels totaled close to Rs 1 crore before this round.
