Inlyte Energy is developing sodium-metal-halide batteries, focusing on iron-based chemistry to lower cost while retaining high energy density and long life. The company acquired the Beta Research team and its facilities after a successful fundraising effort to accelerate development and scale. Inlyte targets grid-scale storage customers and emphasizes safety, longevity, and competitive economics versus lithium-ion. The startup estimates production costs could fall to about $35 per kWh at gigafactory scale and reports cell efficiencies of roughly 80%–90%. Inlyte aims to switch on its first factory in early 2027 and is optimizing the iron chemistry that Beta Research had explored in the 1980s. The company was founded in 2021 by Antonio Baclig following his Activate Fellowship.
