Overview
Inmoji builds interactive emoji-based advertising media that let users tap emojis to reveal content such as trailers or maps to nearby stores. Co-founders Michael Africk (CEO) and Perry Tell (COO) say the product collaborates with marketers to achieve campaign goals and can track user interactions, reporting a 100 percent engagement rate. The company is embedded in messaging services including Oovoo and Badoo and can be added to Apple’s iMessage via user download. Advertisers that have run Inmoji campaigns include Starbucks, Interscope and Disney. Last week it launched a self-serve platform to make emoji campaigns accessible to smaller businesses as well as larger brands that need less handholding. Financially, Inmoji has raised $9 million to date after an additional $1.5 million disclosed in this announcement. Inmoji is a Boston-based platform that connects brands with consumers on mobile messaging through branded, interactive and clickable emojis. Its core product uses branded icons to let users discover and share content, locations and links without interrupting conversations. The company works with brands including NBC Universal, iTunes, Interscope Records, Starbucks, Ticketmaster, MovieTickets.com and Walmart. Messaging platform partners include Tango, Kik, Badoo and MeetMe, and Inmoji has strategic relationships with more than 40 media agencies such as Omnicom Media Group, OMD Worldwide and Mullen Lowe. The company raised $5M in a Series A and has $7.5M in total funding; it intends to use the capital to accelerate growth of its media network. Led by co-founder and CEO Michael Africk, Inmoji is focused on expanding distribution through platform and agency partnerships. InMoji builds a platform that connects consumers with brands by organically integrating branded content into messaging conversations. The product allows consumers to opt-in to branded experiences and share them, while enabling brands to capture sentiment insights and deepen loyalty. Users can send music and movie clips, coffee, gifts or location information through the platform. InMoji integrates with almost any messaging app, including social networking, dating and gaming apps, and seeks to open new revenue streams for messaging platforms and app developers. The company has partnered with consumer, entertainment and retail brands such as Walmart, DraftKings, Drizly and Sol Republic, and with messaging platforms including TextPlus. InMoji launched its software offerings for both iOS and Android earlier in 2015.
