Innoz
Koramangala, Bangalore, Karnataka, India
Overview
Innoz operates a mobile, text-message search engine that compiles and automatically sends short SMS answers to questions submitted via text. The company has developed Quest, a person-to-person, location-based answer service positioned as an extension of its Innoz app. Quest is conceived as a people-powered answering app that relies on human responders for queries search engines often miss. Quest is currently available on Google Play for Android; an iOS version is not yet available but is expected soon according to the Quest website. To support development of Quest, Innoz secured funding and continues to evolve its mobile answering products. The company is based in Bangalore, India. Innoz’s flagship product is 55444, a mobile-based search engine accessed by SMS that answers queries across verticals like encyclopedia entries, cricket scores, local search, movie reviews and train timings. The service runs on a short code (55444) and is available to users on Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Tata Docomo and Idea. Innoz serves over 35 million queries a month (about 1 million SMS searches a day) and is growing at roughly 1,000% a year. The company was founded in 2008 by four friends at LBS College in Kerala and maintains offices in Bangalore, Bombay and New Delhi. Innoz is profitable and has previously received angel funding from Freeman Murray, MobME, Technopark and other technopreneurs, and was incubated by iAccelerator at IIM‑Ahmedabad. With the new funding it plans to improve its product, strengthen its technology base to handle increased demand, and build a distinct identity for the 55444 service.
