INSEACT develops sustainable insect-derived proteins for aquaculture, starting with shrimp feed produced from black soldier fly (BSF) bioconversion of palm oil waste. The company produces XFprotein, XFoil, and XFfrass as feed ingredients and by-products, and says its approach enables a circular, carbon-negative operation. Founders Tim van Vliet and Michael Badeski conceived the business while at INSEAD; INSEACT targets reduced dependency on wild-caught fish in aquaculture. It has developed a modular, next-generation vertical rearing system intended to lower capital costs and enable predictable, flexible capacity growth. INSEACT reports customer evidence of shrimp growth benefits and rising demand as fish and shrimp farming costs increase. The startup plans to scale to industrial production and supply clients directly while continuing R&D at its pilot facility.
