Overview
InSilixa is developing a new generation of high-performance molecular diagnostic (MDx) platforms that leverage integrated circuit manufacturing technologies, particularly CMOS processes. Its fully integrated CMOS biochips and point-of-care systems are designed to be cost-efficient, disposable, mass-deployable, and to offer high clinical performance, specificity, and parallelism. The company intends first-generation products to target highly multiplexed genomic tests for point-of-care and near-patient diagnosis of infectious diseases, including rapid pathogen identification and detection of genetic mutations conferring antibiotic resistance. InSilixa is building a platform-based architecture enabled by semiconductor technology to allow cost-effective and rapid retargeting to different diagnostic applications and genomic panels. The underlying technologies were exclusively licensed from Caltech, The University of Texas at Austin, and Stanford University. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, InSilixa was founded in 2012 and aims to democratize and drive down the cost of molecular diagnostics worldwide.
