Overview
Instafreight operates a digital spedition platform serving B2B customers who need to ship single pallets or full truckloads. The company says it is neither a mere intermediary nor a pure software provider but is responsible for contract-compliant execution of transports. Instafreight aims to increase available capacity for European land transport through its digital business model to make supply chains more resilient. The startup intends to use recent funding to address supply-chain strain caused by the pandemic and the Ukraine war. Founded in 2016 by Philipp Ortwein and Gion-Otto Presser-Velder, Instafreight is based in Berlin and employs about 200 people. InstaFreight is a vertically integrated B2B online freight forwarder co-founded by Philipp Ortwein and Maximilian Schaefer in June 2016 and based in Berlin. The platform digitizes the entire process from instant price quoting to invoicing and offers Track & Trace for customers. It serves shippers across Germany and the EU and works with a pool of over 3,000 subcontractors and selected transport networks. Use of the platform is free for both shippers and carriers, and carriers who complete orders via the app receive payment within 72 hours. The company plans to use the funds to further develop its business model, increase automation, and strengthen data interfaces for customers and partners. Maximilian Schaefer also joined the management team to bring logistical operations experience.
