IntendiMe builds KitMe, a product that detects household sounds via auditory vibration sensors and delivers real-time alerts to users’ wrists through a smartwatch. The technology monitors domestic audio events and notifies deaf and hard-of-hearing people so they can remain independent, free and safe. The company was founded in 2017 and originated from the 2nd edition of the ContaminationLab at the University of Cagliari. Founders include Alessandra Farris, Giorgia Ambu, and Antonio Pinese, with technical support from deaf engineer Leonardo Buffetti; the team has since added managers and hired both deaf and hearing colleagues. IntendiMe has closed a €2.3 million funding round and will use the proceeds to enter the market, increase R&D activities, and hire additional staff. The company emphasizes user-centered design to ensure its technologies respond closely to the real needs of people with hearing loss.
