Interface Fluidics

11421 Saskatchewan Dr NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 2M9, Canada

Overview

Interface Fluidics builds a proprietary compact, rapid fluid tester and sampling platform aimed at oil and gas operators, delivering faster, on-demand fluid property analysis for field and lab use. The technology is positioned to reduce freshwater and chemical consumption by enabling smaller samples and cutting hazardous sample shipments. Interface says its platform provides microscopic visual insights that can increase ROI, reduce chemical costs, and help lower emissions. The company was founded in 2015 and supplies services to major producers including Suncor, Equinor, Total, Cenovus, BP, Ovintiv, Saudi Aramco, and Petroleum Development Oman. Management plans to scale deployment of the technology into customer field and laboratory workflows and expects the new financing will allow growth of its Alberta team, potentially doubling staff. Interface reports this is its third and largest financing round to date and that it has raised more than $11 million USD in total to date. Interface Fluidics operates a nanotechnology microfluidics laboratory service that enables oil and gas operators to visualize fluid–fluid interactions and perform rapid chemical testing at reservoir conditions. The company leverages proven microfluidics technology adapted from the biomedical industry. Its solution also delivers a suite of PVT measurements conducted under micro- and nano-confinement. Led by CEO Stuart Kinnear, Interface provides testing and visualization tools aimed at optimizing oil production. The company is a graduate of the first Techstars Energy Accelerator class (Oslo, completed December 2018, in partnership with Equinor). It recently raised capital to expand capacity to meet market demand.
