Intersect ENT develops and commercializes absorbable, steroid-releasing sinus stents, led by its flagship product Propel and a smaller Propel Mini. Propel received FDA approval in August 2011, and Propel Mini won approval the following fall. The stents are implanted after sinus surgery to keep passages open and slowly release steroid locally, reducing the need for follow-up operations. To date more than 6,000 patients have been treated with Propel. The company moved into a new 32,000-square-foot Menlo Park facility to house business and manufacturing as it scales production. It is pursuing U.S. commercial expansion and planning clinical studies for an office-based treatment for chronic sinusitis. Intersect ENT develops a bioabsorbable drug-eluting stent to treat patients with chronic sinusitis. The device is intended for use by Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeons. The company recently closed a $30M round of financing and plans to use the funds to commercialize its initial product. It also intends to build a broader portfolio of products addressing conditions treated by ENT surgeons. Intersect ENT is based in Palo Alto, California.
