Overview

Founded in 2015, interviewing.io operates a platform that lets engineers participate in mock technical interviews and lets employers conduct anonymous initial interviews to reduce bias. The service aggregates mock-interview scores, adjusts for interviewer strictness, and admits only the top 3% of candidates to its job portal. Mock interviewers and mentors include engineers who have worked at Facebook, Microsoft, Google and Amazon, and partner employers posting jobs include Facebook, Amazon, Lyft, Uber, Snap and Dropbox. The company says a top-tier tech firm is 20 times more likely to hire a candidate from interviewing.io than from other sources, and that its service saves companies an average of 200 hours of staff time. It also reports that 40% of hires through the platform come from non-traditional backgrounds. Including the recent raise, interviewing.io has $15 million in total funding to date. Interviewing.io operates an anonymous interview platform where candidates remove names, resumes and other identifiers to practice coding interviews and be evaluated solely on technical performance. Engineers pick time slots to practice in front of contracted engineers who identify top performers; successful candidates can then take a similar interview with a hiring manager who only sees task-based results. The company reports about 3,000 engineers have signed up, with roughly 20% female users and 40% classified as non-traditional engineers (older or from non-top universities). Customers using the platform include Facebook, Lyft, Twitch and Yelp, among other tech firms. Interviewing.io aims to level the hiring field for women and minorities by focusing on merit rather than resumes or school pedigree. The startup plans to use recent funding to continue growing and to launch a university platform to help hiring managers find college talent.
