Intra Drive has spent eight years in Scotland engineering the GD8, a compact 4.5 kg mid-drive motor that delivers 80 Nm of torque, 650 W peak power and an eight-speed sequential gearbox offering a 480 % ratio. The unit targets premium e-MTBs and cargo bikes, promising lower maintenance and higher durability than separate motor-derailleur setups. Fresh capital will fund the industrialisation of the GD8, including scaling assembly capacity, securing CE and EN certifications and courting OEM bike brands already testing pilot units. Commercial production is scheduled to start next year with first customer deliveries forecast for Q4 2026. The company is also building a UK- and EU-based supply chain to support manufacturing. Co-founder Mark Ravilious leads the venture, joined by investor-turned-co-founder Peter Slotwinski since 2022. Revenue figures have not been disclosed, but the firm continues to invite mission-aligned investors focused on sustainable e-mobility.
