Overview

Invesdor operates an equity crowdfunding platform targeting Scandinavian markets and uses its own platform to run fundraising rounds. It is active in Finland, Norway (where it claims to be the only platform licensed to run equity crowdfunding campaigns), Denmark, and the UK. The company completed its fourth funding round on its platform, raising €1.2M (reported as $1.36M) from 300 investors across 19 countries. Invesdor says it will use the funding to strengthen its presence in these existing markets, with particular focus on the UK, rather than expand to additional countries in the short term. CEO Lasse Mäkelä acknowledged a period of both high growth and heightening competition and suggested consolidation via M&A may be forthcoming. The firm faces competition from active UK platforms such as Seedrs, Crowdcube, and SyndicateRoom. Invesdor operates a pan-European equity and debt crowdfunding service that connects companies and investors across Europe. Founded in 2012 and led by co‑founder and CEO Lasse Mäkelä, the platform has facilitated more than €9.6m in funding for 39 crowdfunding projects. The company itself has raised over €1.8m to build its platform, most of it via crowdfunding. It recently received angel investment from Manny Fernandez and will appoint him as an advisor. Invesdor plans to form an alliance with San Francisco‑based DreamFunded.com to bring Silicon Valley accredited investors and European opportunities closer. DreamFunded is led by Fernandez and provides access to over 4,000 accredited investors. Invesdor operates a licensed equity and debt crowdfunding marketplace and has been granted a MiFID licence covering investment advice, reception and transmission of orders, and placing of financial instruments. The platform enables cross-border investing across the EEA and the team says it aims to be the leading source of European cross-border deal flow. Since receiving its operating licence from the Finnish financial supervisory authority, Invesdor has expanded transaction sizes and is conducting notifications and building country-specific due diligence processes to enable international participation. The company announced it raised €1 million on its own crowdfunding platform in a round that included 143 investors from 16 countries. The article notes that two €2 million offerings have been organised on the platform since the licence was granted, including one by Finnish self-storage company Cityvarasto and one by Invesdor itself. Invesdor has also participated as a subscription platform in logistics group Ahola Transport’s IPO onto the Swedish Aktietorget marketplace.
