Overview

Invinity develops vanadium flow batteries, a proven technology intended for longer-duration energy storage. Its batteries are described as durable, easy to deploy at scale, with long asset life, strong total ownership economics, and low fire risk. The company has advanced a next-generation battery called Mistral, which is reported to be near completion with support from existing investors. Invinity operates a facility in Bathgate and plans to open a new manufacturing site in Scotland to expand its footprint and create up to 41 new jobs. The firm aims to accelerate deployment of its products onto the UK grid to support the UK’s net zero transition as wind and solar grow and transport and heat networks electrify. Recent financing is intended to scale manufacturing and meet global demand for long-duration energy storage. RED-T develops a vanadium-based flow battery that stores electrical energy in liquid form. The company targets initial markets in remote power and communications. It is based in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland, and maintains an R&D facility in Reading, England. RED-T has initial customers worldwide, including Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The company raised €900k in funding in a round led by the Dublin BIC-managed AIB Seed Capital Fund, with participation from Enterprise Ireland and CEO/co-founder John Ward. RED-T's majority shareholder CAMCO said the financing is a major step toward commercializing the technology.
