Kabbee is a private-taxi (minicab) marketplace that provides instant quotes from competing minicab firms and lets users book and pay by cash, card or pre-paid account. The service offers apps for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry 10 and claims integration with 60 leading London fleets. Kabbee launched in June 2011 and reports over 250,000 app downloads to date. The company says it is the UK capital’s most popular minicab app and plans to use new funding to accelerate growth beyond London, further develop its technology, and build brand awareness. It operates in a competitive market alongside services like Minicabster and CompareMyFare. Kabbee operates a cab price-comparison and booking platform that aggregates more than 50 cab fleets to give users greater choice when booking in Central and Greater London. The startup was launched in June 2011 and its app has been downloaded more than 150,000 times, with tens of thousands of cab journeys booked to date. Most customers who book once return to book again, and a recent refer-a-friend feature has generated about 100,000 referrals. Kabbee plans product and UX refreshes for its apps and website and improvements to its back-end integrations to better connect disparate cab operator systems. The company is also exploring international expansion and has one team member dedicated to evaluating potential cities for future launches. Management intends to use the new funding to develop technology, attract more users, and expand the choice and quality of fleets on the platform.
