Kaffe Bueno is a Danish biotech startup that converts coffee waste into functional ingredients for cosmetics, nutraceuticals and food. Founded in 2016, the company has three products on the market, including Kaffe Bueno Oil, which is listed as an ingredient by several European and North American cosmetic brands. The company operates a circular model, recycling coffee byproducts into ingredients and aims to play a role in the emerging bioeconomy. It is incubated at La Salle Technova as part of the Scale-up Champions project funded under the EU H2020 programme. Kaffe Bueno recently closed a €1.1M investment round that the company says will be used to increase production, grow the team and continue R&D in industrial biotechnology. Investors backed the startup for its sustainability philosophy and its goal of better leveraging industry subproducts.
