Keey Aerogel

203 Rue du Général de Gaulle, Habsheim, Grand-Est, 68440, France

Overview

Keey Aerogel develops silica aerogel produced from construction waste with a patented closed‑loop process that recycles CO₂ and ethanol, which it markets as the only “green” aerogel. The material is ultra‑light (98% air), available as powder, granules, or integrated into thin flexible forms, and offers thermal, acoustic, and fire‑resistant properties. Initial commercial focus includes construction customers and electric‑vehicle battery applications, where its fire‑resistant material can delay thermal runaway spread by 5–10 minutes. Founded in 2015, the company completed seven years of R&D, secured three patents, and opened a pilot plant in Alsace in 2022; it is currently in a pre‑industrial phase supplying major European clients. Keey aims to replicate its pilot site by adding three production lines and to build a network of local factories to enable short supply chains and European manufacturing sovereignty. The company previously raised an initial €1.5M round and has now closed a larger round to fund industrialisation, team expansion, and new production sites.
