Kenbi

Choriner Str. 81, Berlin, 10119, Germany

Overview

Kenbi is a Berlin-based, tech-enabled healthcare-at-home startup founded in 2019 that operates a largely decentralized network of caregiver professionals. The company uses a proprietary modular app stack and a range of mobile apps to streamline recruitment, onboarding, care planning, documentation, communication, training and billing, and has tested a family-facing app. Kenbi employs over 300 caregiver professionals (80% female), operates 23 care-hubs in Germany and delivers more than 15,000 care visits every month; it is approved by all healthcare insurances in the German states where it operates. The startup provides services from household help and companionship to basic physical care as well as medical and specialized treatments, and issues every caregiver a mobile phone with Kenbi apps installed. The newly raised €23.5 million will be used to continue rolling out Kenbi across Germany and to broaden its tech stack. Kenbi also plans to explore integrating its home-care services with online pharmacy systems, nurse-assisted telemedicine models, connected home devices and big-data analyses for predictive healthcare. Kenbi builds a proprietary tech stack and app to organise local ‘care teams’ that deliver outpatient, at-home services, including some care covered by medical insurance, household help, advice and companionship. The platform includes both patient-facing features and a staff management app. Kenbi says it cuts time spent on unnecessary bureaucratic tasks by up to 20 percent. Founded in fall 2019 and based in Berlin, the company currently reaches about 400 patients across Germany. Kenbi has raised €7 million in seed funding to boost the at-home nursing industry. The company plans to continue developing the product on both the patient and staff sides and to attract more nursing professionals to its network.
