KIDOZ

12 Haomanut Street, Netanya, HaMerkaz, 4250445, Israel

Overview

Kidoz offers a COPPA-compliant children’s entertainment solution and a safe kid environment called KIDOZ Mode used by over 40 device manufacturers and carriers, including Acer, Hisense, Polaroid, US Cellular, Deutsche Telekom and KURIO. The company is launching the KIDOZ NETWORK to open its platform to kids’ brands and app developers, allowing developers to embed Kidoz’s content-recommendation technology inside their apps. That technology aims to increase engagement and generate revenue in a kid-safe way without ads or in-app purchases. Kidoz is led by co-founder and CEO Gai Havkin. The company raised funding to support global expansion and plans to open offices in New York and China in 2016. KIDO'Z builds a kid-safe "kid mode" software for Android and tablets that locks down smartphones and tablets so children can only access pre-approved apps and a whitelist of websites, plus a directory of kid-friendly apps. The company began as a PC media browser before shifting to mobile and tablet platforms and has not built an iOS app because its software integrates deeply with the operating system. KIDO'Z targets the pre-install market and says its software has been installed on over 1.5 million devices, with roughly 80% of installs from pre-load deals and about a 45% average conversion from installs to active users on traditional tablets. Revenue is generated through royalties, licensing and white-label deals with more than 25 tablet manufacturers, including mid-level makers like Lenco and Yarvik, and the company reports revenue growth of 700% over the past six months. The company has a 10-person team and plans to grow headcount by 50% over the next year, hiring mainly in engineering and business development. KIDO'Z is also building consumer monetization via a forthcoming subscription called "KIDO'Z Pass," a premium content library that will pay developers on a per-use model and is slated to go live later this year.
