Overview
Kiwibot builds AI- and GPS-enabled all-electric robots that perform autonomous last-mile food deliveries with route optimization and obstacle avoidance. The company aims to become the standard last-mile delivery service in smart cities and is focusing growth on college campuses. Founded in 2017, Kiwibot launched its first pilot at UC Berkeley and now operates on 29 U.S. college campuses and two in the Middle East. Its fleet has completed over 250,000 autonomous food deliveries; in 2022, 600 robots served 6,942 students and connected 133 restaurants. Robots are manufactured in Colombia with final assembly and a logistics hub in Miami, and the company’s distributed team includes five Miami-based staff. Kiwibot has partnerships with Grubhub and Sodexo’s Everyday and has undertaken mapping and community service projects in Miami funded by the Knight Foundation. Kiwibot develops semi-autonomous sidewalk delivery robots for food, medication, and local goods, operating on college campuses and in U.S. cities. The company has completed over 200,000 deliveries across university campuses and cities. Led by CEO Felipe Chávez Cortés, Kiwibot is expanding its robotic fleet and technology to increase reach across multiple college campuses and cities. A multimillion-dollar contract expansion with Sodexo will enable deployment of more than 1,200 robots across 50 U.S. college campuses by the end of 2022. Kiwibot has also partnered with Careem to autonomously fulfill orders in Dubai and with the Knight Foundation to advance safe and equitable mobility in four U.S. cities. The company recently raised new funding to support further technology development and geographic expansion.
