Overview

Komodo is a student well-being platform founded in 2018 in New Zealand that provides a web application and a mobile app for students to check in and communicate confidentially with school staff. The platform includes psychologist-designed surveys and customizable question sets on topics such as school attendance, socialization, relationships and major transitions. Schools receive aggregated data and trend insights to help spot issues like depression, cyberbullying or withdrawal earlier and prioritize interventions, while Komodo emphasizes it is not a replacement for person-to-person support. Usage cadence is set by each school (weekly, biweekly or monthly check-ins) and the product is used by clients and partners across New Zealand and Australia. Notable partners and clients include Marist College Ashgrove, St. Andrew’s College, the Australian Boarding Schools Association, Independent Schools of New Zealand and the Council of British International Schools. The founders aim to make data actionable for school staff and incorporate in-house psychologists into support workflows.
