Laclarée develops autofocusing eyeglasses for people affected by presbyopia based on an opto-fluidic technology protected by a worldwide patent portfolio. Its lenses feature variable focus driven by actuating units in each temple and distance sensors that enable real-time adaptation to the user’s viewing distance. The lenses can also include necessary refractive corrections for hyperopia, astigmatism, and myopia according to the patient prescription. Founded by Bruno Berge and based in Villeurbanne, France, the company targets the millions of people needing dynamic optical correction. Laclarée raised €3.5M in seed funding, which complements a €2.5M EIC Accelerator financing. The company intends to use the proceeds to develop its first commercial product by mid-2026. Laclarée develops adaptive eyeglasses aimed at correcting presbyopia. After three years of lab work the company demonstrated a portable prototype that combines its adaptive lens technology with standard refractive correction for astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia. Founded in 2016 by CEO Bruno Berge, Laclarée operates labs at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon and partners with the Institut des Nanotechnologies de Lyon (INL). The company plans to use recent funding to hire new talent and prepare a fully integrated version of its glasses for a real beta-test. That beta-test is a key step before planned industrialization in 2021 and a market launch in 2022. Laclarée is supported by Bpifrance and other institutional backers.
