Laguna Games develops blockchain-based games and describes itself as a research and game development studio specializing in blockchain technology. Its first title, Crypto Unicorns, is billed as a “digital nation” and a digital pet collection built around community-owned game economies. The studio will seed the in-game marketplace with 10,000 genesis Unicorn Egg NFTs, which it says will be the only genesis eggs to exist, with a pre-sale starting November 15. Crypto Unicorns will launch on web, iOS, and Android and features gameplay including jousting and racing where participating unicorns level up. Laguna positions the project as a move away from traditional free-to-play mechanics toward a Play-and-Earn model and plans to build a future portfolio of other games.
