Overview
Laundryheap is a London-based on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning platform offering door-to-door services to consumer and business customers, including major brands. Founded in the UK in 2014, the company returns items to users within 24 hours. During the pandemic it introduced ‘virus wash’ services and extra-hot cleaning offerings and expanded support for B2B clients. Laundryheap has also worked to make its supply chain more sustainable through green cleaning techniques and low-carbon transport. The company operates across 11 international markets, including the UK, US, Ireland, the Netherlands, the UAE, Singapore, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. It intends to use the Series A proceeds to continue global expansion following growth into new markets in 2020 such as the USA, Singapore, Sweden and the Middle East. Laundryheap operates an on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning service that lets customers book pickups via an app and manages its own fleet while partnering with overnight processing facilities to offer a free 24-hour turnaround. The service targets busy professionals, families and businesses (restaurants, bars, hairdressers and Airbnb flats) and is active in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin and Dubai. The company was bootstrapped for three years and reinvested profits to expand into new markets. Laundryheap reports healthy unit economics, says it breaks even in every new city within 3–6 months, and that the business as a whole is profitable. Over 80% of its business comes from repeat customers. Management plans to use new funding to accelerate growth in existing cities and to launch in four new European cities by the end of the year.
