Overview

LeanIX offers a SaaS described as a “Google Maps for IT architectures” that lets enterprises map legacy and modern SaaS and create metadata on business processes, technologies, teams and how architectures fit together. The software helps enterprises understand vendor software usage across distributed teams and act more nimbly to adopt new solutions or decommission legacy ones. LeanIX says it is currently working with 300 international customers and achieved 100% revenue growth in 2019. Thirty-nine percent of total sales are generated in the U.S. market and 57% in Europe. Over the last 12 months the company opened offices in Hyderabad, Munich and Utrecht and grew headcount to 230 employees (up from 80). It plans to use the new investment to continue international growth and further develop complementary solutions for cloud governance. LeanIX is a Software-as-a-Service offering for enterprise architecture management that lets organizations map legacy and modern SaaS, record metadata about business processes, technology versions, teams and ownership, and visualize interdependencies. The product is often described as a “Google Maps for IT architectures” and uses a semi-automatic approach combining collaborative manual entry with automated extraction via integrations such as ServiceNow and Signavio. Customers include Adidas, DHL, Merck and Santander, and the company has strategic partnerships with Deloitte, ServiceNow and PwC. In 2018 LeanIX doubled its global customer base, launched operations in Boston, and expanded its global headcount with senior hires. The company has raised nearly $40 million since its 2012 founding and recently closed a $30 million Series C. The new capital will be used to accelerate growth in the U.S. and continue product innovation. LeanIX provides a software-as-a-service solution for Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) that can be hosted in a public cloud or a client’s data center. It serves both SMEs and large enterprises across media, insurance, logistics, energy, manufacturing and e-commerce, with customers sized between 100 and 100,000 employees. Named clients include Axel Springer, Helvetia, RWE, Vaillant and Trusted Shops. Founded in 2012 by Jörg Beyer and André Christ in Bonn, Germany, the company is staffing up and hiring. LeanIX secured $2.5M (€2.2M) in Series A financing and plans to use the funds to expand sales, marketing and development. It also intends to establish an international partner network of IT consultancies and IT outsourcing service providers.
