4 Rue de la Tour des Dames, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75009, France
Overview
Leetchi is a Paris, France-based provider of an online social payments service that lets users collect money for collective gifts and shared expenses. Founded in November 2009 by Céline Lazorthes, the company launched a B2B offering in October 2011 that provides white‑label API access to other crowd-funding services. It operates both B2C and B2B business lines, serving individuals gathering funds for events like birthdays and weddings and offering its platform to other businesses. Leetchi raised €4m to accelerate development on its B2C and B2B lines in France and to begin international expansion. The company intends to use the new funds to speed product development and market growth. Leetchi operates a platform for group payments and purchases, allowing users to collect money online and transfer collected funds to individuals. The company plans product enhancements including Facebook Connect integration, one-click and recurring payments, and other new features. It intends to expand into B2C segments such as bill-splitting for roommates, contribution collections for associations, online ticketing for events and services aimed at 14–18 year-olds. For the moment the site and services are in French, with an English version planned as the company aims to become Europe’s leading group-payments platform. Leetchi reports €1.2 million in the bank and has about 25 B2B customers, including one major e-commerce player. The team has doubled in size since February and was projected to grow to 15 people by June 2011.
