Lexumo operates a cloud service that indexed open-source code globally and continuously checks it to ensure security updates are applied. Companies using open source inside embedded systems or enterprise software can submit their code for vulnerability scanning and ongoing monitoring. The service notifies developers when updates are available and can deliver custom patches when upgrades would break APIs or interfaces. Lexumo spun out last year from Draper Labs, an MIT-based not-for-profit research organization, after about five years of development there. Its automated approach aims to solve the practical difficulty companies face tracking and applying open-source security fixes. The company announced a $4.89 million seed round to support its product and go-to-market efforts.
